Social media commoditizes the search for unique places, especially wedding and event venues. I set out to break the mold by creating a stunning 90-acre wedding destination in the Smoky Mountains of Asheville, North Carolina.
Kicking it all off, we drew up a business plan, conceptualized the venue, and thought through features to be offered. Then we got to work – painstakingly renovating and remodeling the barns, cabins and grounds over the next 6 months. No stone was left unturned. We then assembled a network of the best vendors, coordinators, caterers, staffers, transportation services and guest accommodations. Feedback from other venues emphasized that the supporting cast is key to a smoothly running event. Armed with advice, we blazed our own path to create a no-compromise guest experience.
Beyond branding, we established a fresh digital identity that replicates the authenticity of the venue. This includes original photography, custom website, integrated booking platform, reservation system, Airbnb listings, social media accounts and online presence.
From initial concept to hosting the first successful event just a year later, Fines Creek Farm secured over 150 wedding bookings and sold out reservations for the next 3 years! The entire project (planning, building, and marketing) required zero outside investment capital and was entirely self-funded by selling unneeded farm equipment. A lean startup indeed.
